On Thursday night, John Maunsell, PhD, inaugural director of the Grossman Institute for Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior, hosted an Open House for the Institute’s new laboratory and office space. Occupying 22,000 square feet on the fourth floor of the Surgery Brain Research Institute building, the Grossman Institute aims to foster neuroscience research and promote collaborations across the University of Chicago. The Institute will organize workshops and symposia for the neuroscience community, strengthen the graduate and undergraduate neurosciences programs, and also bring in six to eight new faculty over the next few years.

Some photos of the Open House can be found below, and stay tuned for a feature story on the new space. Also, check out Q&A’s with Dr. Maunsell about on his thoughts on the Grossman Institute (part 1) and why he studies the brain (part 2).
