One of our core missions in the news office for the University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences is to not only promote the amazing research happening on campus, but to empower our faculty, postdocs and graduate students to communicate their own work. Part of that effort is our ongoing partnership with UChicago myCHOICE, a program created from the Broadening Experiences in Science and Technology grant from the NIH to increase professional development opportunities for graduate students and postdocs in STEM fields.
Applications for the myCHOICE summer internships are now open, and interested grad students and postdocs from UChicago are encouraged to apply. The internships provide real-world practical experience in a specific career field beyond academic research and only require 10 hrs/week for 10 weeks. This summer’s line-up includes five new internships, in addition to three favorites from previous quarters, including:
- Business and commercialization
- Data science and software design
- Industry research
- Science education and outreach
- And our favorite, because we’re biased–Science communications, an opportunity to work in our news office and write for Science Life (YES).
Check out the myCHOICE website for more info. Applications are due Monday, May 15.
